What Kinds of Foods Prevent Breast Cancer

I normally don't just quote another whole article, I search and write my own findings on whole food supplements, cancer prevention etc. However, I've already written the following information, but with this, you don't have to take it from me, you can take it from a medical doctor:

When I was growing up in Kentucky, my grandparents had a grove of walnut trees. So… I ate a lot of walnuts. My grandmother cooked with them, baked with them, and we ate them by the handful for snacks. She always said they were good for you. How right she was.

A new study shows that eating walnuts could reduce your risk of breast cancer. With just a handful of nuts (2 ounces) a day, mice delayed the onset of cancerous tumors.1

You see, walnuts contain a trio of cancer fighters – phytosterols, omega-3s, and flavonoids.

Phytosterols. Studies show that these nutrient compounds can inhibit tumors from forming in the breast and shrink them if they are already there.2

In addition to walnuts, you can find phytosterols in:

*

Legumes
*

Flax seed oil
*

Peanut butter
*

Pistachios
*

Sunflower seeds
*

Almonds
*

Brussels sprouts

Omega-3s. Omega-3s have a unique ability. They are able to get absorbed into cell membranes where they help cancer cells self-destruct. They reduce a inflammatory enzyme called COX 2, which promotes breast cancer.

Plus, they keep your body’s breast cancer genes healthy. When these genes function normally, they help repair DNA and prevent cancer from developing.3

You can get omega-3s in these foods:

*

Wild-caught salmon, anchovies, sardines
*

Flax seeds
*

Grass-fed beef
*

Almonds, pecans
*

Avocado
*

Sacha inchi oil
*

Olives/olive oil

Flavonoids. Walnuts also contain a flavonoid called ellagic acid. This powerful flavonoid inhibits the growth of cancer cells.4

Ellagic acid not only protects your healthy cells from free radical damage, but it also helps to detox would-be cancer-causing cells and helps prevent cancer cells from reproducing.

Other ellagic acid-rich foods are:

*

Berries (blueberries, cranberries, raspberries, strawberries)
*

Pecans
*

Pomegranates

Working all of these foods into your diet will help you protect your body from the dreaded “C” word. Still walnuts are the only super food that offers all these cancer-fighting compounds in one.

To get the freshest, most nutritious walnuts, follow these tips:

*

If you’re buying walnuts in the shell, make sure the shells don’t have any defects – look for little wormholes. Give the shells a little shake. If they rattle when you shake them, they are probably old and over dried.
*

Store shelled walnuts in an airtight package. You can store them up to about 6 months if you keep them in the refrigerator. Up to a year in the freezer.
*

If you prefer unshelled walnuts, look for a freshness date on the package. The high oil content makes them highly perishable. Heat and humidity will speed up the process. As with the shelled walnuts, keep them in an airtight container in the refrigerator and they will last for several months too. Longer in the freezer.

Aside from popping a handful of walnuts in your mouth, there are many ways to enjoy them. Sprinkle a handful on your salad or yogurt, or experiment with your favorite recipes. I like to add them to chicken salad or sautéed vegetables. "

Supplement Your Nutrition and Increase Your Chromium in Food

Some studies have noted that chromium has a benefit on lowering heart attack risk, and may help boost HDL levels. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) has stated that an Adequate Intake (AI) for chromium is 25-35mcg per day, which was concluded by estimating the average amount of chromium a healthy American obtains from the foods they ingest. The AI for chromium is substantially lower than the Reference Daily Intake (RDI) of 120mcg.

The Harvard Health Publications states that the best ways to boost HDL levels are lifestyle habits of exercise and diet. But if those don't help, supplementing with chromium may improve HDL levels. Some clinical trials have reported a benefit.

Dietary chromium is found in whole grains, nuts, broccoli, and green beans, which are all high nutrition foods. Most people do not eat whole grains, ever, do not choose nuts as a snack, and can't stand green vegetables. Green vegetables that are overcooked are particularly repulsive to many.

Chromium has also been associated with the management of blood sugar. It has shown to assist the receptor sites in cells utilize insulin. Insulin resistance is the condition where you cells do not assimilate insulin, and can lead to Diabetes.

A whole food supplement containing unprocessed, unfragmented green vegetable compounds will increase your chromium intake in a natural way. It will be ingested with the nature-born co-factors and enzymes needed for proper digestion. This supplement has the best ingredients I could find to date.

So yes, you can just take a pill and know that you are doing something good for health and future every day. Of course if you have disease symptoms you should see a health practitioner and get a proper diagnosis followed up with specific treatments. Most medical doctors would not object to your taking a whole food supplement along with other treatment, just ask if there is any reason not to.

Start with your diet and do the best you can to eat good fresh foods. Add to your natural health plan with a whole food supplement to feed your immune system well.

Since studies have shown that chromium in food brings benefits to your health that extracted, isolated chromium in supplements does not show, to date, opt for a supplement that also includes anti-oxidants, other whole food derived vitamins and minerals, and berry extracts.

Harvard Health Publications provides more details at http://www.health.harvard.edu.

A natural whole food supplement, preferably made from organic and wild harvested foods, will help you to avoid heart disease, cancer, high cholesterol, diabetes, ulcerative colitis, Alzheimers and other conditions of aging. That is the stuff we are made of.

But I Can't Stand Green Vegetables!

On a search for the phrase "can't stand green vegetables" a quarter million sites showed up. I read a few posts about this - some very humorous and some adamant that these veggies are not meant for human consumption. Burping and intestinal gas are frequent complaints.

The use of cruciferous vegetables has been documented for a few thousand years. Cabbage leaves were used to relieve inflammation, as a poultice as well as stop hair loss, remedy tumors, and even remove freckles. Richer in calcium than milk, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, and Brussel sprouts also are considered superfoods by juicers, vegetarians, and health conscious individuals.

These and other green vegetables are not popular for flavor. Some find them indigestible. So how can we eat enough of these foods?

Cruciferous vegetables - broccoli, cauliflower, kale, Brussels sprouts, and cabbage contain two antioxidants, lutein and zeaxanthin, that are associated with helping to decrease prostate and other cancers.

Lutein is associated with diminishing the risk of macular degeneration and cataracts. As an antioxidant, lutein is 10 times as powerful as Vitamin E. The macula is the area of the eye that receives the most light, and is therefore vulnerable to UV rays, and subsequent degeneration. Lutein is yellow, and filters out the blue UV light that can cause damage to the eyes. Lutein must be obtained from our diet. It is found in high concentrations in spinach, broccoli, and collard greens.

Zeaxanthan is the other antioxidant deposited in the macula, and it also blocks the UV rays, protecting our eyes. Both lutein and zeaxanthin should be ingested with food, as they are fat soluble.

Broccoli, cabbage, and cauliflower have indole-3-carbinol, a chemical that can combat breast cancer by converting a cancer-promoting estrogen into a more protective type. So we can understand why The America Cancer Society promotes eating green vegetables.

Broccoli, especially sprouts contain sulforaphane - believed to aid in preventing some types of cancer, like colon and rectal cancer. It appears that the more bitter the broccoli is, the more potent this anti-cancer effect is. BroccoSprouts is a trade name for a broccoli sprout that has up to twenty times higher levels of sulforaphane than the levels found in mature heads of broccoli.

http://www.cancure.org/cancer_fighting_foods.htm has more details on this topic.

If you get intestinal gas from eating green and particularly cruciferous vegetables, it is not because of the vegetables. It is because you lack healthy bacteria in your gut. Increase your Acidophilus and bifudus intake and you will see an improvement after your intestines get more balanced. Of course see your health practitioner if this condition is extreme, or painful.

While raw vegetables may be best, if you really can't stand them, try lightly steaming them and eating them with a little butter, maybe add a little lemon juice. Or after steaming, eat them cold in salads, disguised by the other flavors in your green mix and your favorite salad dressing. Try.

Your last resort is a whole food supplement containing these cruciferous superfoods along with fiber, probiotics, aloe vera, enzymes and healthy minerals . Even if you like eating them but are on the go and miss healthy meals, do not compromise your immune system by going without. One way or another, get the elements born in nature and meant to help us thrive.

If you can't stand green vegetables, make an effort to ingest them in some form. The anti-cancer, antioxidant, anti-aging and nutrient benefits for your cells, blood, colon, and your energy level is worth it. YOU are worth it.

Cruciferous superfoods are only part of the health benefits of Primal Force's Ultra Greens.

Noni Leads the Partnership With Superfood Berries

Anti-oxidant berries and fruits from both northern and tropical areas give us an edge on our wellness. New super food mixtures containing phyto-nutrients, vitamins, flavinoids, enzymes and co-factors lead the partnership with omega 3 oils, green vegetables and salads, and lean proteins, to create our optimum health.

Why could berries be called a super food? They are that wonderful combination of tart/sweet. They go with ice cream, fresh cream, smoothies, and can go into muffins, cakes and cobblers. Yum!

Berries, such as raspberries, blackberries, cranberries, and strawberries contain ellagic acid, which may help to prevent certain types of cancer. Ellagic acid is also found in processed berry foods, like frozen berries or jams and jellies.

Acerola cherries are high in vitamin C. This is just one example where you can get vitamin C from food, instead of something like ascorbic acid, which is NOT vitamin C in its complete, bio-available form.

A super food among the berries is the blueberry. Four ounces of blueberries contains 15% of the recommended daily value for vitamin C. Blueberries contain anthocyanins, a color-creating pigment, and flavinoids. (Flavinoids are found in deep red and blue pigments of fruits, wine, herbs and teas). Flavinoids protect against oxidation and sunlight. They protect against eye damage from the sun. They also contribute to preventing blood platelets from sticking together, promoting blood and heart health.

Blueberries are a natural laxative. Also, juices made from blueberries or cranberries contain a substance that is has shown to be useful to many, in helping to relieve urinary tract infections.

The noni fruit has been around for as along as Polynesians, Hawaiians and Southeast Asians can remember. The trees are proliferate with leaves, fruit, and seed oil that has been the natural remedy for parasites, and other infectious and degenerative conditions. The best noni (like any other produce) comes from the non-industrialized tropical areas where soil is contaminant-free. Tahitian Noni is a prime example.

Other less known superfood berries are bilberry, lingonberry, aronia, and elderberry. These berries are showing up in better food products, and anti-oxidant mixtures and juices.

Other healthy fruits and berries are black currant, pomegranate, concord grape, cranberry, and both red and black raspberry. A mouth-watering list.

If you are diabetic, or counting calories, whole food supplements can give you the content you need to be healthy, without the sugar. No one left behind!

What leads the partnership in your nutritional life? (Fire those donuts!). With frozen super food berries and tropical fruits like noni and pomegranate available in various forms, eating well is easy.

How To Lower Your Cholesterol With Natural Remedies

Remember, this is all about the omega 6 oil- omega 3 oil balance. Cutting down on fat from dairy products meat products and adding fats from oils such as olive, walnut, avocado, and purified cold water fish oil creates the balance.

There are several ways that you can reduce your high cholesterol. Understanding that cholesterol is healthy and necessary to our body chemistry is important.

The problem is, eating the right essential fatty acids that our liver converts to brain hormones that give us a feeling of well being, and other hormones we need. Being aware of your cholesterol intake is very important. But we don't "eat" cholesterol. We eat foods that go through many conversions in our body. If you want to make yourself more aware and eat wisely, then you will succeed at improving your health, both mentally and physically.

If you are one of those who have the desire to lower your cholesterol, you may do so by modifying your diet as the first resort. One of the things that you can do to reduce your cholesterol is to cut back on the dairy products. Why? It reduces your intake of omega 6 fatty acids, which produce inflammation in the body. Then the inflammation produces degenerating conditions, aging conditions like heart disease, high blood pressure, ulcerative colitis, stroke, cancer and Alzheimer's, just a few.

How does a bowl of oatmeal sound? Well, here is the real secret to eating oatmeal. You need to buy whole organic oats, if possible. Not cut oats but whole grain. And next you need a coffee grinder, the small kind. You are going to eat fresh-made oatmeal so that you actually benefit from the fresh vitamins and minerals in it. Cut oats, sitting in a box in the supermarket, even the health food supermarket, is dead food. So, grind grains that fill the top of the coffee grinder. This will make cereal for two. Boil 8 oz. of water, then turn it off. Stir in the ground oats with 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt - the Celtic Sea Salt variety which contains many minerals and can be bought in any health food store. Cover and let sit for 5 minutes. Then serve, add a little real maple syrup and you will not believe how yummy this is. And wonderful on a cold winter morning.

Not only is this the least expensive way to eat grains, but it is the most delicious. Your kids will love it, your spouse will love it and your parents will love it.

Like to fry a lot of foods? Sorry to say, but there is a lifestyle change to make here. Your best choice is to just give it up. Get your oils in your salads, fresh omega 3 rich fish once or twice a week - like salmon, tuna, and mackerel. I really think micro-managing how you fry is just a waste of time. But do not forget that good lean meat with a little saturated fat, and butter also, are good for you, in controlled quantities. And egg yolks cooked soft, provide excellent nutrients for the brain chemicals that lessen or prevent depression.

You may also consider exercising as another way to reduce the cholesterol in your diet. There are cardio exercises that you may do that will reduce the cholesterol in your blood as well. Brisk walking and jogging are considered to be good cardio exercises. There are many other exercises that you may consider. Interval or Pace training is great. Slow Burn is spectacular. And the many other benefits you get from exercise are too many to list here! It's a great approach to lowering your cholesterol.

With all of the ways to lower your cholesterol level, one of the easiest ways to do it is to take a purified fish oil supplement daily. It is all in what you eat, and what you decide to do as far as exercising and reducing the cholesterol in your blood.

Easy Learning For Middle Aged Women Who Want a Natural Approach to Health Issues

I hope that you are among the middle aged women reading this, who remain free of a mid life crisis. Even if not, I'm attempting to provide some easy learning for you, to understand a natural approach to health issues. As prevention, and also as a supplement to medical treatment, with your doctor's agreement.

I'm starting out with lots of detail, but it gets easy. The topic of essential fatty acids have a holistic affect on your health, as you'll see.

Essential Fatty Acids and their functions in your body are just as described, essential. You cannot manufacture these particular nutritional elements from other foods that you eat.

** 1.Essential fatty acids need to be present in your body to regulate several important biologically active compounds which have a wide range of desirable effects including reduction of inflammation, lowering blood pressure and preventing platelet aggregation, or blood platelets from sticking together.

Inflammation is a localized protective reaction of tissue to irritation, injury, or infection, characterized by pain, redness, swelling, and sometimes loss of function. If this occurs inside your skin, in your heart, liver, blood vessels, joints, eyes, nerves and brain tissue, you probably won't know for years. If you get a splinter in your finger, you'll see it in moments.

** 2.Essential fatty acids are involved in transporting and metabolizing cholesterol. These acids makes it more soluble so that the body is able to get rid of it. They also have the ability to inhibit the production of LDL, the bad cholesterol in your body.

** 3.Essential fatty acids are required for every single cell in your body to function effectively. Cell membranes must be composed of a high enough level of fatty acids for proper structure and integrity.

One especially important area is your nervous system. Normal membrane structure, nerve cell structure and normal nerve functions depend on healthy omega 3 essential fatty acids, daily. Fats make up 20 % of your brain. Imagine how it would help with depression, anxiety and mood swings, to receive this nutrient on a daily basis.

They are vital for your eyes' function also.

Consider your blood, blood pressure and fluidity. Decreased amount of healthy fats in the
red blood cell wall makes the blood cells rigid, and unable to supply adequate oxygen and nutrients to the nerves. The decreased delivery of oxygen and nutrition reduce healthy nerve functions. Deficiency in omega 3 fats also leads to inflammation in the blood vessels, arteries, and then to high blood pressure.

Ultra purified fish oil, the omega 3 oil extracted from the flesh of cold water fish such as salmon, mackerel, tuna, sardines, herrings and anchovies, is a rich source of the eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). You don't have to remember those names, but you'll see the terms EPA and DHA referred to in relation to omega 3 oils. You are recommended to limit these foods to two or three times a week, because of pollutants such as mercury. Fortunately the purified, or pharmaceutical grade oils are cleansed of the toxins in them

Without having to remember all the above details, just note that " Essential fatty acids are required for every single cell in your body to function effectively" and take it from there. Start adding it to your diet every day in the purified supplemental form.

Just imagine the difference it could make for your health issues, and for all middle aged women, to add the one element, omega 3 oils to your diet. It's easy learning that goes a long way to avoid or help with a mid life crisis.

How to Decrease the Appearance of Wrinkles Using a Natural Remedy

While beauty is only skin deep, and wrinkle decrease skin cream can cost a fortune, or be a cheap cosmetic you wouldn't want to use as an anti-ageing skin care, omega 3 fatty acids are a healthy beauty treatment. As many people in medical studies, or on their own, are adding ultra purified fish oil to their diet to prevent or treat high blood pressure, stroke, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, and many other debilitating conditions, they are finding that their hair, skin and nails are improving too.

What a delightful bonus. Ads about cosmetics bombard us hourly on television, and in fashion magazines. There are so many wrinkle decrease blogs, wrinkle decrease bloggers and wrinkle decrease chats going on, that it is mind boggling.

It comes as good news that the omega 3 fatty acids are beneficial to skin health, because they prevent or sooth inflammation. Wrinkles in our skin are caused by inflammation and lack of good oils. A hand in hand situation.

So here is a natural remedy, in good food and available as a healthy food supplement.

How to wrinkle decrease even better, is to understand the balance of omega 6 oils and omega 3 oils. Omega 6 oils, found in grain-fed animal fats, and most vegetable oils, (therefore most salad dressings) and many nuts, is not bad for us. However, we must limit the ingestion of omega 6 oils, because they promote an inflammatory response in the body.

Inflammatory responses can cause high blood pressure, artery disease, heart disease, gum disease, arthritis, diabetes, and oh my goodness that list can go on and on......so we're talking too much of a good thing.

Omega 3 fatty acids, are opposite in biochemical affect. They decrease or prevent inflammation in the body. Ideally if you were to eat a certain number of grams of omega 6 oil, say from a peanut butter sandwich, you would want to eat the same amount of omega 3 fatty acids, or oils, in the same day.

This does not take a huge lifestyle change. Tuna, salmon, mackerel, sardines and anchovies are a good source of omega 3 oils. Their ingestion should be limited because of the pollutants they contain, particularly mercury. Some doctors say restrict these to three times a week, some say two times is enough. If you are pregnant or nursing, ask your doctor for his latest updated recommendation.

But, you can supplement your intake of omega 3 oils with ultra purified fish oil. It is inexpensive (remember, good quality fresh wild caught salmon is about $12.00 a pound, or much more if flown to you) and easy to get. If you prefer shopping online, it's even easier to get.

Another source of omega 3 oils might be some fresh chopped walnuts in your salad instead of croutons. Avocado, walnut, flaxseed and olive oil are all healthy omega 3 oils that you can make your salad dressings from.

This is a big subject and there is lots more to say about it. How to wrinkle decrease the best way, is to eat healthy omega 3 oils that improve many conditions in your body, and give you healthy skin as well.
